Trust In Your Own Power

There is nothing wrong with You!

Life is hard, and most of us are just doing the best we can. Society is filled with so much noise and static it’s difficult to truly understand the source of our problems or, more importantly, to know how to solve them.

Counselling is a great tool to help you clear out the noise and static. Counselling will assist you in finding the solutions to your problems, solutions which are already waiting inside you. The most significant changes you will ever make in your life come down to how well you trust yourself and your ability to tap into your own power!

If It Bothers You, That’s Enough!

So many of us have been taught to live with discomfort. We’ve been convinced how we feel is our “fault” because we don’t know how to feel another way. We’ve believed we are “less than” somehow because we can’t just…

be happy

      get over it,

            let it go,

                   move on,

                          forgive & forget.

It is my personal and professional belief that few things are as toxic as the “get over it” mindset.

How you feel in any situation is the truest information about how that situation affects you. And if it bothers you…that’s enough;

Enough to say “No”

   Enough to Walk Away

      Enough to Begin Again

         Enough to say “Good Bye”

The goal of counselling is not to “fix” your feelings. To “fix” implies error and, there is nothing wrong with you! The goal of counselling (at least counselling with me) is to understand your feelings, what they mean, what they need, and how to turn those needs into actions that validate and nurture your lived experience.

Keep it

Weird

When done well, counselling can make you feel more like “you.” It’s okay in the beginning not to know exactly what that feels like but, I honestly believe you know right away when it feels “wrong”. One of my counselling truths is to “Keep it Weird” !

Keeping it weird gives you the freedom to truly discover all the nuances that make you the unique person you are. Some of us are quirky and some of us have very specific needs. That is not bad. If you nurture your authenticity you always know when it’s you being YOU and not you TRYING to be someone else.

Who Should Consider Counselling?

Counselling is for everyone!

We are humans, we all need support. Unfortunately the stigma around mental health has created a barrier between the help that people need and their ability to feel comfortable receiving it. Please don’t continue to experience bad sleeps, panic attacks, thoughts of suicide, low motivation, dis-satisfaction, overall distress, and low self-worth on your own.

Think of the people in your life who you love and care for, and consider if they were feeling like you are right now… Would you expect them to manage these feelings all on their own?

If you said NO, schedule a free 20 min phone consultation and see if Theresa is the counsellor for you and your problems.
